THE DIARY CARES: World AIDS Day
On this World AIDS Day, as we approach the thirtieth year of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, let’s take the time to pause, reflect and pray on the 33 million people worldwide who live with HIV/AIDS. It’s so good that more treatment is out there to aid in this growing disease but why are millions of people still dying and getting infected….
I attended a training last month and the trainer mentioned about 20% fewer people are dying from the disease now than in 2004. But, she said, “for every person who’s getting treatment, two to five more people are getting infected” Also people are waiting so late to get treated that the treatment they could have received to delay the onset of AIDS numbers are increased out of control! To me this is plain old crazy but I understand why!!! Instead of the numbers decreasing it is increasing dramatically because we need to educate ourselves, not be afraid to talk about the topic, use protection, educate others and get tested!! Stop being ignorant and closed-minded because it’s here and if we don’t Act Against Aids is always going to be a problem!!!
The trainer shared with us the United States Department of Health and Human Services website that has powerful, straightforward, and appealing ways for anyone interested in educating themselves or others and looking to fight the spread of AIDS/HIV to take action. Among its tools is a wonderful widget “HIV/AIDS Prevention & Service provider Locator” which I have placed below
Go out and let your voice be heard… Act Against AIDS/HIV!
