According to CNN, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, Teena Marie has died at the age of 54 Sunday evening during our crazy snow storm that had people trapped in their homes!! She was reportedly found dead in her home by her daughter, Alia Rose. Her cause of death is not yet known.

R&B singer, Teena Marie was best known for her hit songs “Lovergirl”, “I need your Lovin”, “I’m a Sucker For Your Love“,  and  my favorite “Fire and Desire” her duet with partner the late and great Rick James.

I know it has been a minute since you have read from me but I’m here to tell you guys I’m Back!! A lot’s been going on and a lot hasn’t been going on up in here because my lab top decided it wanted to take a vacation. However, that vacation cost me to get my baby back home. If some of you got lost…. My lab top had some issues and I had to paid to get it repaired so I pray this will not happen again!!! I totally learned 5 lessons from all this…..

1. I need to learn how to back-up my work
2. I should always upload my pictures onto my Snapfish account
3. I need to get my desk top fix and not only depend on my lap top
4. One should always have money saved away for unaccepted expenses (Thank the Lord I did because technology is expensive to maintain)
5. Last but not least I truly have some loyal readers and THANK YOU for being patient with me and letting me know you miss reading from me!!!

So, back to the regular scheduled program…. Here is my Monday Music Madness Pick of the Day!!!

I attended a training last month and the trainer mentioned about 20% fewer people are dying from the disease now than in 2004. But, she said, “for every person who’s getting treatment, two to five more people are getting infected” Also people are waiting so late to get treated that the treatment they could have received to delay the onset of AIDS numbers are increased out of control! To me this is plain old crazy but I understand why!!! Instead of the numbers decreasing it is increasing dramatically because we need to educate ourselves, not be afraid to talk about the topic, use protection, educate others and get tested!! Stop being ignorant and closed-minded because it’s here and if we don’t Act Against Aids is always going to be a problem!!!

The trainer shared with us the United States Department of Health and Human Services website that has powerful, straightforward, and appealing ways for anyone interested in educating themselves or others and looking to fight the spread of AIDS/HIV to take action.  Among its tools is a wonderful widget “HIV/AIDS Prevention & Service provider Locator” which I have placed below

It’s Monday and are you ready to rumble?! Oh BOY oh should I say Oh Girl!! The Ladies are at it again!! Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Kim‘s beef isn’t medium rare!! The order has been changed to well done!! On Friday (November 26), Lil’ Kim released “Black Friday,” her response to Nicki Minaj’s interview last week on New York’s Hot 97 radio station with Angie Martinez and release of Nicki’s song featuring Eminem “Roman’s Revenge!”

I stop to ponder on who would sound hotter on a record together…Kim or Minaj. That’s the best way to battle it out on the same soundtrack and let their skills do the talking!!!

I wish this motivates Lil’ Kim to put out her own album because this would make the beef much more entertaining like when Kayne West and 50 Cent dropped their album on the same day!! Anyhow, if anyone knows the power of publicity, marketing and selling your CD I give it to Nicki Minaj for getting Lil’ Kim fired up right before her album drops to boost her sales!! I’m not mad at that!!

It’s that time of year we all been waiting for! Getting together with family and friends to share in the Blessings of fellowship and GOOD food! However, I know it’s the hardest time of the year for some of us to watch our waistline and we lose focus with our Fit-n-Fab goal of healthy living and eating! Do you know that the average Thanksgiving dinner has over 2000 calories? In order to help you through the holiday happy eating I’ve compiled for my readers Healthy Holiday Eating Tips so you can still look and feel Fit-n-Fab after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years dinner without having to deprive yourself.

Don’t Make Excuses! Tomorrow may be a holiday but that doesn’t mean you don’t go work-out! I know a lot of gyms will be closed tomorrow but that’s no excuse why not to do 30 minutes to an hour worth of exercise. One can go for a walk, jog, run (if it’s not raining because I know the weather forecast for tomorrow is rain), TV fit channel, Wii fit, work-out DVDs or videos.  Also, be sure to continue your normal work-out schedule and hit the gym on Black Friday! Don’t make EXCUSES because it’s the holidays STAY FOCUS!!!!

Portion Control! Eating healthy during the holidays is very important when we talk about portion control. A lot of us think this is the time of year it’s okay to go out of control! However, Thanksgiving dinner isn’t an all you can eat buffet! Be sure to fill your plate with a lot of veggies, lean meats (without the skin) and very small portions of starches!! The best way to control you portion sizes is to take one serving spoon or half a serving spoon! This way you can sample all the different foods but don’t over pill your plate like a mountain top!  Moderation is always the key so be sure to eat light before dinner. Have a small breakfast and lunch so you don’t over eat and you’re not hungry when it’s time for dinner! Also, listen to your stomach, if you’re full, pack the left-over and please don’t try to force yourself to eat it all.

Make Conscious Choices! We can choose to cook and eat healthy or we can choose to cook and eat unhealthy! The choice is yours. If you are cooking make healthy choices with the ingredients you use and substitute high fat ingredients with lower-fat or fat-free ingredients! I know a lot of people claim it don’t taste the same but if you keep using healthier products you get use to the taste and appreciate the health benefits! Instead of frying try baking, instead of white rice try brown rice, instead of regular oil use olive oil, instead of white sugar use brown sugar, instead of refine white products use whole wheat and high in fiber products just to name a few!

Now for the non-cookers like myself, who is going over to gobble, gobble away… You know you cannot control the ingredients that go into the dishes that were made so that isn’t a valid excuse for you not to make conscious choices too! Like I mentioned above limit your potion size and limit high fat food items. Again moderation is the key to staying focus and staying in control of your healthy eating habits during the holiday season!!

Limit your Empty Calories! I almost forgot about my soda and alcohol popping crew! LOL, yes this is the time of year we tend to drink a lot of alcohol, soda, cider, egg-nog and juices! All of these empty calories that are adding the pounds to your waistline! Some of us think it’s not a big deal because they are liquids but they are full of sugar that just turn into fat in our bodies so drink a lot of crystal light water or plain water to help fill up your stomach and keep you hydrated.

Rumors say the unisex fragrance is going to be named “My World” …. I’m not mad about that because if you ask any teen girl she would probably say its Bieber’s world for real!! J. B. was the king of the AMAs on Sunday and he is about to take over your world!

Usher’s pop star truly has made a name for himself and he isn’t wasting no time branding himself!! On Sunday, Bieber invited Usher on stage with him to accept the biggest award for the night was just touching… JB “not only my mentor but my best friend and my big brother” truly spoke volumes Usher is doing a great job!!

Justin Bieber has partnered with Etoile Nation Beauty to launch the collection of wristbands and dog tags infused with a unisex scent named “My World”. It looks like one of the popular places to brand your products is Walmart!! It’s good to see the industry is recognizing people can’t afford to spend big bucks on everyday products!!!

What is Fashion? Is fashion following the current trend? Is it standard, safe and lifeless? Is it designers thinking everyone was born wearing the same size 2 to 4? Or is it courageous designer Tasha Hill who understood what it meant to have the freedom to fight against her teachers at Katherine Gibbs saying “I know I’m not playing it safe but I don’t want to be safe and be common! I want to celebrate my creativity and design clothes my sister and my mother would want to wear”

And so that is exactly what Miss Hill set out to do and she did it! Allowing her imagination and her sister Jeannie Ferguson (the face behind the line) to be her inspiration they proudly unveiled their new clothing line. Big Girls United (BGU) hosted a night of fashionable flirting and seduction of 2011 “Chameleon” collection showcase that was stylish and sexy!

It’s so weird since I’ve been attending these fashion events I keep meeting designers that aren’t curvy but are designing for Curvy, Cute, and Confident women! But you know what I’m happy these designers noticed curvy women want to look sexy and want to stand out in a fashionable way too!! The models were Fierce, Fit and Fabulous rocking the very Cute “Chameleon” collection! I totally had a good time mingling and meeting new people and touching bases with people I’ve met before! The vibes were good, the outfits were stunning, the hostesses were friendly and fun, they had 2 raffle pulling and I was 4 numbers away from winning a free dress so you know this Chic Chick was bummed out when I didn’t win!! I have to get ummmmm still thinking which one I want because I did like a few!!! Check out some of the pictures below…
